***********************************************************************************************************************************

This is a rescheduled event from 4-26, postponed due to severe weather, though it is also open to new participants as well. Please see the FAQ's below for more details

***********************************************************************************************************************************

Why was the race postponed?

A: The race was postponed due to severe weather on race morning. It was decided that it was far too unsafe to continue with the event due to unexpected rip, wind, and surf conditions.

Who made the decision to postpone the race?

A: The decision was made with input from race and state park officials.

What happens to the race now?

A: The race was postponed to a new date on June 7th 2014 at 0800am. Thank you to California State Parks and Orange County Trail's for working on a new date for the event.

I had a timing chip, what do I do with it now?

A: The chip needs to be returned before participants are allowed to enter the race on the new date. You can do this by bringing the chip with you to pick up your new bib, or mail the chip back if you are not planning on attending. A $10 non-return fee will be charged to participants who do not turn in timing chips to the credit card used to register for the race. This fee is paid to the timing company for the RFID chip.

So, I will get a new timing chip?

A: Yes, participants will receive a new timing chip on race day, along with a new bib. All old timing chips will be deleted and only the new ones will be active.

What does it mean that the event is not split-timed?

A: For HB 2014, we will now be offering only a start, and a overall finish time. We will not provide split times (transition times and times of specific events)

Do I need to register for the new event?

A: YES! If you are not registered, you will not be able to race. Follow the link to register for the new date. All participants from the 4-26 race were emailed a special PROMO code to be used. There is no payment required for the new race if you paid for 4-26. This was emailed multiple times, so check your inbox or spam box. We have no other way of communicating with you.

Do I have to pay for the new race date?

A: No, but you need to register. Registration will close by June 1st so you must register before then. NO late registrations will be allowed. The timing company needs this time to work through the new race logistics.

What if I don’t get registered in time before it closes on June 1st?

A: Then you will receive the $25 credit (see below) for next years race. No registrations will be allowed after registration closes.

What if I didn’t get the email?

A: The only channel of communication we have with race participants is through email, and the email they provided to register for the race (this was required on active.com). We email to this data-base, but cannot provide personal phone calls. Ensure you email is listed, and that it is not going to junk.

I emailed, but haven’t received a response?

A: With the volume of athletes and email received, we cannot respond to everyone.  We provide a FAQ page and update as needed, and communicate race info via mass email.

What if I cant attend the new date, and I was registered for the 4-26 date?

A: If you cannot attend the new date, you will be issued a $25 credit for our future 2015 HB event. This information will be provided later this year.

When will the 2015 date be announced?

A: We are working with our state and county partners on securing a new 2015 event. Stay tuned for more information.

Why am I not getting a full refund of my registration fee?

A: Putting on TTB events at prime locations, and keeping our entry fees low as part of our mission statement to you, there is not a large margin. Our races are paid for, and permits pulled far in advance and though the event was postponed, the event still took place in terms of workload to TTB, state, and county partners. This is why races have strict no refund policies in place. TTB is a small, not for profit organization and in order to continue donating money to our non-profit partners and ensuring a future for TTB events, it is important that we responsibly manage our race expenses. The event will take place on June 7th instead of April 26th.

Wait, can I get a refund if I can race on the new date?

A: No. No refunds will be offered.

I ordered an extra shirt, where can I pick it up?

A: All extra purchases can be picked up at the race info booth on race day.

Does every participant get a shirt and finishers medal?

A: All participants that finish the event will receive a 2014 Race series medal.  Participants register AFTER MAY 22nd, ARE NOT GUARANETEED AN EVENT SHIRT. Prior registrants from 4-26 date will have shirts, but new registrants are not guaranteed event shirts due to early order.

Do I get a swim cap?

A: Yes, all participants will receive a special colored swim cap. This cap ensures you are in the right swim wave based on your self-recorded swim time. Once you are in a pre-assigned wave, there are no changes. Waves will be in order of bib number; ex 1-50, 51-100, etc. There will be waves of 50 participants until all participants have entered the course.  Swimmers not entering during their assigned wave will not have an accurate swim time.

I am a 5K Runner, what info do I need?

A: The 5K starts a little later at 9am on the 7th. Please be at the race expo before 830am to ensure you get the pre-race briefing. The briefing will be within the expo, near the stage. The 5K is a non-timed event.

Is there a packet pick-up?

A: No, we will not hold another pre-race packet pick-up. All packets can be picked up race morning starting at 0600am. Packets will be distributed until the Triathlon cut-off time of 0730.
